As we let you know at last week’s meeting, we have been closely monitoring the rapidly evolving COVID-19 virus situation and how it might impact on our programme.
In the past week several members have, understandably, expressed reservations about attending meetings on Wednesday evenings. With social distancing now recommended by the government and with some of our members being in the higher risk category, we have taken the decision that the responsible action is to cancel all meetings up to the end of April when we begin the summer break.
This is immediate and there will not be a meeting this Wednesday 18th March. Hopefully when the Club programme begins in September things will be back to normal and we can once again get together on a weekly basis.
In the interim, the committee are thinking of ways to hold part of the bi-monthly competitions remotely, i.e. judging PDI’s from home and maybe recording comments that can be uploaded to the web. Prints present a different challenge, but possibly we can look at moving them to September and increase the number of entries per member. The Summers walks are under review but it’s unlikely these will go ahead.
Nobody is more disappointed than we are at having to make this tough decision, but we hope you understand and agree that it’s the best course of action in the exceptional circumstances the World finds itself in at present.
Kind regards,
Judith Baron, President.

We’d like to thank all members of the public who placed their votes at our exhibition this year. The three images which received the most votes are:
1st “Winter Steam” by Graham Speak
2nd “Heads of Tails” by Sue York
3rd “Appleby Fair” by Bill Pilkington
Were any of these the images you voted for? We hope to see you at next year’s exhibition!
Our annual exhibition will be opening on Saturday 24th August at the Hebden Bridge Town Hall and runs until the 31st. The exhibition will be open daily from 10am until 4pm (except on Bank Holiday Monday (26th) where unfortunately the Town Hall is closed). Entry is free.
We encourage members of the public to vote for their favourite images while looking at the exhibition, the winners of which will be announced in September. Two or more members from the club will generally be present to answer any questions you might have about the exhibition or the club itself, for the duration of the exhibition. We look forward to seeing you!
The exhibition also marks your first opportunity to see and buy our Hebden Bridge 2020 Calendar. It will be on sale at just £5 a copy, a slight discount over the regular retail price.
In addition to the calendar, a limited number of copies of the second edition of the club’s magazine ‘Narratives’ will also be available, priced at £5.
For last year’s People’s Vote winners please see here.
